EVENT TYPES 25-August-2015 CFA Society Toronto offers a wide variety of programs and events focused on areas of interest to its members as well as the broader financial and business community. Event listings may be viewed at www.cfatoronto.ca. CFA Society Toronto is an active participant in CFA Institute's Approved-Provider Program. The society has determined that certain events qualify for CFA Institute's Continuing Education Program. CE and/or SER Credit hours are noted on the online event page. 1hr content = 1 CE credit. Only regulatory events are SER credit applicable (1hr content = 1 SER Credit & 1 CE Credit). PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS – COMMITTEE AND SOCIETY DRIVEN EVENTS Events for 2015-2016 will be supported by the management office as follows: • Annual Forecast Dinner, Annual CFA Charter Recognition, Special Events- Jenny Yeo • Career Management, Corporate Finance, External Relations & Advocacy, Fixed Income, Portfolio Management, Private Client, New Member Welcome Reception, Volunteer Kick-off/Holiday Luncheon, Annual Appreciation Event, Other: Speaker Prospect Tracking, Logistic Support - TBC • Continuing Education, Equity, Kitchener-Waterloo, Risk Management & Alternative Investments, Annual CFA Society Toronto Press Awards, Ethics Challenge, Research Challenge & Awards Reception, Other: PD Calendar, Competition Tracking, Logistic Support – Dawn Wong EVENT FORMATS Each committee can individually or jointly present any of the below event formats to the membership: Conferences CFA Society Toronto conferences are presented by industry experts and are industry specific (E.g. Wealth Management Conference). Some sponsorship may be involved. Conferences can be 1/2-day to 1-day in length. Multiple speakers with multiple sessions. CE credits are applicable. Continuing Education Courses CFA Society Toronto develops a range of post CFA courses that advance the technical/professional skills of our members. New programs are continually assessed to address the needs of the Canadian investment professional. Course formats currently offered are webinar or in-class. Content is normally 3 - 7hrs. CE credits are applicable. Joint Events Committees are encouraged to build links with other like-minded associations or groups to increase the breadth, depth and quality of programs offered to benefit our members. The Joint Event Policy can be provided upon request from the office. Networking Events Each committee is encouraged to host at least one (1) networking event during the programming year. Such events can include, but are not limited to: roundtables, socials, author series, or fireside chats. Other Special Events can also be arranged through discussion with the office. It would typically run from 5:30 – 7:30 PM. No CE credits are generally applicable. • Author Series feature prominent authors who have written books on financial, economic, and/or strategy topics that would be of significant interest to society members. The event price may include a copy of the book and is designed to be of interest to mid-senior career charterholders seeking intellectual entertainment and stimulation.
